Joséphine Duffau-Lagarrosse

Hailing from Libourne, on the Right Bank of the Gironde, Joséphine is the ninth and latest generation of one of Saint-Émilion’s longstanding winemaking families. She has developed skills across all aspects of the wine industry, obtaining diplomas in oenology as well as agronomy, with an emphasis on viticulture. In addition to this, she holds a master’s degree in international wines and spirits business. With an ardent interest in the nuances of viticulture around the world, alongside a resolutely forward-thinking outlook, Joséphine gained valuable experience in France and abroad, across vineyards in Burgundy, Corbières and the Médoc to California, Mexico, and New Zealand.

Viscerally attached to Beauséjour from a very young age – when her grandparents headed the estate – Joséphine has now turned her attention to renewing its legacy.

Prisca Courtin

An ISEG alumna and business graduate from the Queen Mary University of London,
Prisca Courtin spearheads the business diversification of her family’s company, the Clarins group. Today, she supports organisations across several industries (skincare and cosmetics, tech, biotechnologies, packaging…) realise their commitment to excellence – with the acquisition of Château Beauséjour marking their monumental venture into wine.

Camille de Villenaut:
Co-Technical Director

A viticulture and oenology engineer, Camille de Villenaut graduated from the École Supérieure d’Agriculture in Angers (France), before studying winemaking business management at the École d’Ingénieur de Purpan in Toulouse. Originally from central France, she was not predestined to a career in wine, but discovered her passion through an initial interest in vegetal biology. Her studies led her to Opus One in California and later to Piacenza, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. She concluded her studies at Château Cheval Blanc where she wrote her dissertation. Her first professional experiences took her to the Vasavour Winery in New Zealand, Vignobles Bourotte in Pomerol, and later to Château l’Évangile (Domaines Barons de Rothschild), before joining Saint-Émilion’s Château Villemaurine.

In March 2022, she was recruited by Joséphine to join the new team as Co-Technical Director. Here at Beauséjour, Camille is involved in all aspects of running the estate, both on the technical and commercial sides of operations.

Izilda et Christophe Chanloup :
grape grower and tractor driver/grape grower

« To us, Beauséjour is a gem that must be preserved and passed down. »

The guardians of Beauséjour’s hallowed limestone halls, this iconic couple has been integral to the history of the estate for over 30 years. They have worked under three generations of the Duffau-Lagarrosse family and possess an encyclopaedic knowledge of the vineyard.

« Beauséjour – this great terroir will always come before its human caretakers ». A duo of consultants guides Beauséjour’s team in their quest to reveal the full extent of Beauséjour’s identity and bring its wine to its acme.

Axel Marchal : Œnology consultant

A professor in oenology at the Université des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin de Bordeaux, and a consultant to some of the region’s top châteaux since 2013, Axel also devotes his time to research work. He began collaborating with Beauséjour during the 2021 vintage, to which he contributed his thoroughness, attention to detail, and precision. His scientific background has been instrumental in allowing Beauséjour to develop a long-term vision. In his eyes, preserving the freshness of the wines is essential.

Julien Viaud : Œnology consultant

An engineer in agronomy and oenology, Julien Viaud has been working as an oenology consultant in France and abroad for over 15 years. Akin to Axel Marchal, he has supported the Beauséjour team since 2021. He brings with him a breadth of technical knowledge in the fields of viticulture and oenology. For Julien, safekeeping the identity of the terroir and cultivating the best expression of its wines are paramount.
